Developing Procurement Officers’ Competencies through Awareness-Building and Training on ESG-Aligned Responsible Procurement and Sustainable Supply Chain Management

The Company is committed to enhancing sustainable supply chain management by integrating its Sustainable Supply Chain Policy and Guidelines and Supplier Code of Conduct into the procurement function’s operational processes. To achieve this, the Company conducts practical training workshops for procurement officers under the course titled “Enhancing Sustainability Standards and Business Ethics.”
The primary objective of this training is to build knowledge and understanding of the Company’s Social and Environmental Purchasing Guidelines and enable procurement officers to integrate these principles into their day-to-day operations, covering the entire procurement lifecycle, from supplier selection and risk assessment to contract management and supplier development. This ensures that the Company’s procurement practices are effectively aligned with its sustainable supply chain policies. The initiative also serves as an integral part of fostering responsible behaviors, strengthening employee competencies, and cultivating a corporate culture of sustainability across all business functions.
The training content covers the implementation of the Company’s policies across four key dimensions, as follows:
- Environmental Dimension and Decarburization
- Climate Change and Its Implications for Business: Enhancing understanding of the climate change crisis and its significance for business operations, as well as the Company’s environmental policies, which serve as a key driver for establishing environmentally friendly procurement criteria (Green Procurement).
- Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction (Scopes 1, 2, and 3): Integrating the Company’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout its value chain into supplier selection and the procurement of materials and equipment that help reduce emissions. This also includes the efficient use of resources and effective waste management.

- Equality and Fair Treatment of Suppliers: Promoting respect for diversity and inclusion (Diversity & Inclusion) and ensuring fair and equitable treatment of all suppliers.
- Occupational Safety and Labor Rights Across the Supply Chain: Strengthening oversight of workplace safety, protecting human rights, and safeguarding the welfare of supplier workers at all levels of the value chain, in alignment with the Company’s occupational health and safety standards.
- Governance, Business Ethics, and Anti-Corruption
- Procurement Ethics and Transparency: Ensuring that business activities are conducted lawfully, transparently, and ethically in accordance with the Procurement Code of Ethics. This also covers personal data protection and the prevention of all forms of corruption.
- End-to-End Responsible Sourcing: Promoting responsible sourcing and the delivery of goods and services throughout the entire supplier lifecycle, from supplier sourcing and evaluation to delivery and ongoing supplier capability development.
- ESG Supplier Risk Assessment and Management
- ESG Supplier Assessment: Applying ESG assessment criteria to evaluate and classify supplier risk profiles (Supplier Risk Profiling), including the selection of new suppliers and suppliers for procurement activities.
- Continuous Improvement and Supplier Development: Establishing measures to promote and enhance supplier capabilities, both across the overall supplier base and specifically for suppliers whose assessment results do not meet the required criteria. These measures aim to support continuous improvement through supplier capacity-building initiatives and the implementation of corrective action plans (Supplier Capacity Building and Corrective Action Plan).
