Challenges and Opportunities

Water is a valuable global resource and an essential input in economic systems. However, climate variability driven by climate change has led to an increase in the frequency and severity of water-related natural disasters. In addition, economic growth and industrial expansion have contributed to water scarcity, flooding, and water pollution.

Management Approach and Value Creation

The Company places strong importance on water management within the organization by promoting responsible water use. The company regularly communicates and raises awareness among employees across corporate offices and retail branches under all brands to encourage responsible water use through continuous initiatives, including:

Management Approach And Value Creation
1. Monitoring And Controlling Water Usage
The company plans and monitors water consumption and regularly inspects water pipes across stores and offices to detect possible leaks. These inspections help maintain systems in good condition and reduce the risk of leakage due to aging infrastructure. Water supply systems are regularly maintained to ensure efficient operation, and equipment is gradually replaced with standardized water-saving sanitary fixtures.
2. Promoting Water Conservation
The company promotes energy and water conservation initiatives to raise awareness about efficient resource use. These campaigns are communicated through emails, notice boards, and informational stickers placed near water usage points to remind employees to turn off taps properly after use.
3. Managing Environmental Impacts From Restaurant Operations
The company recognizes potential environmental impacts from restaurant operations and therefore monitors water use and wastewater quality. Grease traps are regularly cleaned and maintained before wastewater is discharged into public drainage systems. Employees are required to strictly follow water management procedures and operational guidelines.

Since the company’s office buildings and retail outlets (all concept stores) are located in leased office buildings and shopping malls, the company does not have direct data on actual water consumption. Instead, water-related expenses are recorded based on the utility bills received from the building management. However, the company has begun collecting and recording water-related expenses from its office buildings and restaurants in order to better understand the organization’s water costs. This information is used as a basis for setting targets to reduce water-related expenses in the future. Details of the water expenses are presented in the table below, covering the period from 2023 to 2024.
